What to include in your first message

• The property city, and the kind of structure involved (pool, spa, deck, wall, drainage)
• What went wrong, in a few sentences, and when it started
• The names of the parties: owner, builder or subcontractor, and any attorneys or insurers, so a conflict check can be run first
• Your deadline, such as a mediation, expert disclosure or trial date
• Photos or documents if you have them. Please send original photo files rather than copies forwarded by text message, because texting strips the date and location information that makes them useful as evidence.
